.blog is the generic top-level domain that is meant for blogging. By the end of 2013, due to concerns over a "name collision", in which the company has the potential to use some internally proposed gTLDs for its own use, ICANN halts the development of.blog and the other 24 gTLD proposed pending further review.
The TLD becomes active on May 12, 2016.
Anyone can sign up for a dot blog domain name at the regular price available. People can log in at get.blog and secure their own.blog domain name from November 21, 2016 at 1500 UTC. However, there are some restrictions regarding trademark names... blogs started by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.
