Push-to-pull , push-to-connect , push-in , push-fit , or < b> instant fittings is a type of easily disconnected compression fitting or fast connection that allows air ducts (or water) to be installed, nominally without the use of tools (this tool is usually still needed to cut pipes to length and wipe). These fittings act similar to the workings of ordinary compression fittings, but use a resilient O-ring for sealing, and a grip ring to hold the tube (probably notched) in place. With metal pipes, it takes a plot to hold the pipe in place. With PTFE tubing, the tube changes shape around the grip ring.
